Looking through some of the purchases I made back in the early 90’s, I must have spent quite some money on collecting together this collection. At the time I thought it was one of the most comprehensive record collections put together (as I’d seen no others!!). Whenever Record Collector did a feature I would wonder why they’d missed a wadge of records I owned. Though I was pleased they gave the original 7″ perfect hits some validation – thought it was a bootleg – I only own one of them though – could have bought both many years ago.
I have seen Billy Idol a few times, Milton Keynes supporting Bon Jovi (who were the worst on the bill which also included Little Angels and Manic Street Preachers), Wembley (two nights in a row) and the best gig I’ve ever been to Billy Idol and Generation X at the Astoria. I didn’t realise Generation X was reforming for the evening and was delighted when they knocked through a load of their songs.
Include Steve Stevens (his superb guitarist), Sigue Sigue Sputnik (Tony James – Bass Player of Generation X), Empire, Westworld (seriously under rated) and Gene Loves Jezebel.
