An extremely busy weekend and a very busy week to follow so far – i’ve not had time to stop and actually do anything this week.
First up was Friday night in the Santhi in Amersham, where a good crowd gathered to celebrate Chris’s birthday – Scott even flew in from Abu Dhabu especially for the evening. Around 15 of us had a good curry – I went for a vin da loo again for some reason – pretty tasty though. Rebecca had her first sleep over at school so I had to drive in case there was a problem.
Up at 6am to get the marketing literature and things ready for the hockey club’s stand at Feast Day – it was a fabulous day and a lot more people than ever turned out and the rain held off too thankfully. The only downside for me personally was that the gazebo is on its way out and we were put in an enclave for the second year running and unfortunately the masses of people that turned out didn’t wander up into our section – which was rather dispiriting given the efforts on marketing literature and things – never mind Chalfont St Giles show coming up September.
We haven’t spent much quality time together as a family recently, so we hot footed it down to Fareham to visit the family boat and a stay overnight. R & J were delighted when Uncle John, Grandma and Grandpa all appeared at the pub for the evening meal before they headed back to various parts.
It was pretty windy in the evening, but the overnight stay on the boat was rather enjoyable and R & J loved the adventure. After a nice cup of tea we started the fruitless activity of crabbing, but to my surprise they caught over 20 crabs with their lines and a bag of old ham! Great fun was had.
Once we had released the crabs back into the sea, we pootled into Portsmouth and after a quick bite to eat in Pizza Express (Express it took two hours ??) we went to the historic docks and onto HMS Victory. It was a very interesting time and R & J loved it and learning about Nelson and where he died. Indeed, the bed time reading was the Battle of Trafalgar!
I also took a load of photos of boats and things as I’m planning on doing a little web site selling Seaside and Nautical Gifts – including photos as well as gifts. It is also my opportunity to test the eCommerce function in WordPress. Don’t look at it yet though as I’ve hardly started…
