Birds - woodpeckers, redwings and chaffinches

I've been testing out my new camera lens again - as you'll see I haven't quite got it right yet - the woodpecker is slightly (!) out of focus. There were lots of birds on the grass feasting on something the other day - even a family of Redwings - I counted at least 3 which isn't bad considering the RSPB site has them as fairly rare. Anyway, here's a couple of out of focus photos from the feeding:

Green Woodpecker

Green Woodpecker
With the cold snap and plenty of snow and ice, we have been busy keeping the bird feeder topped up, water defrosted in the bird bath and the bird table full of food.

As a result the garden has been very very busy indeed with wildlife - most of it welcome! I really need to purchase a digital slr - but here is a photo of a Green Woodpecker that visited recently. There are plenty of smaller birds as well - and two foxes were roaming the paddock behind us today - one of them curled up and went to sleep!!

It is surprisingly rewarding bringing the wildlife to the garden and sustaining them.
