New Virus
I'm usually one of the first people to get hit by viruses as I've so many email addresses posted over the Internet. This morning I had a wave of about 20 of the W32.Novarg.A@mm. I warned my customers last week to be careful so it'll be interesting to see whether they catch it or not.

Not as bad as the last bad virus where I was receiving it over 200 times a day - very dull.

Quiz Night
Went to the CPSA quiz night last night. Our team was dreadful!! we came second last. Well done to Bob Hance and Neil Turner for their organisation and comparing.

Thanks also to Chalfont St Peter Brownies who lent us the tables (I believe).

Hockey vs Mill Hill
I believe we were the only side in our club to loose against Mill Hill Yesterday (out of three). We fought hard, but we never flowed as we had the previous week. They are a very physical side (not dirty I hasten to add) which seems to put us off - ie they nudge and push and generally try and knock you off your stride - which they did. And ended up winning 4-2. I was rugby tackled near the end of the game which was a bit odd and we should have had a flick for it. Their first goal was over the back as well - amazingly not spotted.
Oh well...

The Village Hall (Jolly Farmer)

Went to the Village Hall (formerly the Jolly Farmer) last night with a few friends to "celebrate" being 32.  After winning the pub restaurant of the week (see earlier log entries!) it was decided to put it to the test again.

The food was superb again - I had a chicken breast stuffed with mango and other bits and pieces on Cous Cous and it really was sublime.  All the other dishes looked very good and had excellent feedback too.

It was interesting to note though that the reason they changed the name from The Jolly Farmer to the Village Hall was to move it more upmarket and shed the undesirables image the Jollies had - however, it was notable that there was a substantial number of the "Gold Sovereign Brigade" in there - from what I could see perfectly well behaved - but does rather call in to question their desire to change the name.

Somerset
Back from Somerset - a very productive day - re-set up the Sage Link 50 and Actinic link up again. Also helped with a stock check and unloading the lorry.

Did an Actinic integration with Paypal and I must say, the whole Paypal process has been a dream - especially compared with the banks - and for a similar commission - wonder if they'll get greedy like the banks later on.

Considering looking at a place to buy down there, some new warehouse space up for sale for £50k for 1000sq feet (I think it was that).

Becoming more of a bus. consultant rather than web site designer - thoroughly enjoyable.

Only problem was getting home - four hours as there was a massive crash on the M4!

CD WOW being forced out

The music monopoly has got its way with CD WOW and is forcing it to charge UK customers higher prices - £4 more that it is currently charging - surely there has to be something illegal about what they are doing?

Anyway, purchased a few CD's including Joy Division Substance and Clubber's Guide to 2004, one Euphoric and uplifting the other, er not quite so....

Frontpage 2003 Upgrade problem

A customer phoned today to say his web database wasn't working properly.  So have spent 5 hours trying to resolve it - done most of it, but for some reason Frontpage 2003 does not like displaying the results from an Access query - quite happy with flat table results but not a query.  Cannot see anything on the web about it.

Very annoying as had masses of other work to catch up on from loosing a couple of days through my voluntary work earlier this week.  Oh well, Somerset tomorrow to rebuild the Acintic / Sage link that I did last week but the PC went pop on Monday.  Going to be integrating with Paypal whilst I'm there I think and try and do remote log in.

Youth Shelter Progress
Alan and I distributed letters to the houses surrounding Gold Hill Common on Sat morning - three days late (this was due to legal uncertainties!!). Hopefully we will receive some positive feedback ready for the Council meeting tomorrow night.

Roll on April when its all installed and up and running! Then we can focus more greatly on the Tithe Barn and get that moving.
