Round and round

We've all definitely come down with another / the same illness again - think it is just going round and round and round.  Sore throat, knackered and bit of a cold - all three of us have got it - well Rebecca didn't tell us so - but shes got a runny nose.

Speaking of Rebecca, took some brilliant photos of her in the bath last night she was loving it as it was deeper, but I suppose these days I cannot put it up on the web to show you - how pants.

Chris - thanks for the comment - I think I'm playing 1's this week - only because they are five players short though!! lol.  I'd have loved to have played 2's against Gerrards Cross Hockey Club - and also 3's - I've enjoyed all the teams I've played for - been good this year as I've seen loads of members from the club who wouldn't normally have crossed paths with me - and who don't come back to the club very often.

Got a sports club meeting tonight - not particularly up for it.

Parish Council - seized up

My hamstrings today - I could barely move them - I'm not sure I like this getting older lark.

We had the Parish Council meeting tonight - the Democratic quarter of an hour was taken over by the residents of Monument Lane - an excellent presentation was given by the residents - and the Parish is well behind their efforts to prevent the masts from being built where they are currently being proposed - especially when they have as good existings sites in non-residential areas close by.

The car park issue was raised - we are voting on whether to keep the car park free for an hour - this looks like it will cost £24k of parish council money (12 1/2% of overall budget) when there are already a number of free car parking spaces in the village.  I actually posted some comments up in the meeting - remarkable.

A tiring weekend!

Played hockey for the 2's yesterday, we beat Mill Hill 5-0 which was quite good - managed to slot in four for myself which was pleasing!  However felt it this morning - fortunately I didn't feel the suffering of too much celebrating as after a few jugs at the club we popped in to the White Hart.

I was a late call up to play against Loughborough Town today and we beat them in golden goal 1-0 - I suspect I'm going to be aching quite a lot tomorrow morning.

Rebecca managed to get from sitting up position to all fours ready to crawl - we don't think that is going to to too far away - so no more leaving her for a couple of minutes on her own.  She also just wants to stand up when you try and put her on the floor to sit down!! Still no sign of any teeth yet - just the bright red cheeks lol.

I have a tremendously busy week coming up - loads of work - suspect a few more 11 / midnight shifts coming up like last week. Cleared a wadge of updates for British Battles on Friday evening - though still not ready to launch e-commerce.

Still haven't heard back on the house we put an offer in on last week - so who knows whether we'll be moving.

Thurs evening in the Waggon

God my head hurts and its mid-day.  Think someone was a bit thirsty amongst us last night and the rounds were coming thick and fast.  Found out who it was that was initially accosted by the youngsters in the village - he was telling them to have some respect to the graveyard.

Playing hockey for the 2's tomorrow afternoon at Newlands - still not found a babysitter yet for an hour - whoops.  Seeing Chris on Saturday night - that's usually pretty messy as well.

Still snowing - but none really settled over the last few days.  Still not heard back on the house we put an offer in on either.

Village Appraisal

I was actually able to go to the village appraisal meeting last night - first time in a long while.  All good and exciting stuff going on down there.  It is particularly pleasing that the youth group which I'm involved in is held up as a group that has made substantial progress and a lot to show for itself.

There were some interesting ideas for a Chalfont St Peter museum and tourist office as we have apparently got a lot of history - and surely a lot more to discover.  For example, Hanging Judge Jeffries, a famous naval officer, we are listed in the doomsday book, someone with a VC is buried with it in the churchyard - and this is only the tip of the iceburg surely.

There was a lot of discussion about the business action group as it still only has one member!!  So they are looking to fold it in to the currently dormant development group.  I am amazed that the business is not more active especially with the car parking issues of the village and for the traders the imminent arrival of Tesco to Gerrards Cross which could well suck out the lifeblood of the village shops.  Yet at the same time, I hear that there are about 3 or four different groups representing various "factions" and that there is plenty of politics surrounding each of them - unbelievable at a time like this.

Following on from this, there is a Parish Council vote on Monday with regards the car parking issue - the ongoing argument - sorry discussion - between the Parish Council and Chiltern District Council over how much should  be paid to keep it free for some of the day.  The figure for one hour is now £17,000 the Parish has to pay CDC to keep it free for just an hour - though there might be an updated figure on Monday.  That's a whopping 8 1/2 % of the overall budget just for an hour of free parking.

Went to the Tithe Barn and met with Sarah Booker (Bucks Ad) and some of the other Management Committee to go through what is happening there at the moment in terms of refurbishment and our plans for the future and the open day - unfortunately I might appear in a photo as Liam refused to be in it!!

More Snow
Nothing much else happening really.  Had my head down working on Grant and Stone yesterday, new Ideal Standard section and some new radiators.  Did loads of other small odds and sods as well such as new images on the Serendipity Olive Oil web site - apparently it is on TV this Thursday lunchtime.

Rebecca poorly and Open Spaces meeting

Poor little Rebecca, and poor Sarah, Rebecca kept waking up last night every time she couldn't breathe because of a bad cold and Sarah kept leaping out of bed to soothe her and get her back to sleep.  Still she is now seven months old and has been sleeping through every single night for the last five months - so we have been exceptionally lucky.

Went to the open spaces meeting last night, there were six of us including the clerk - it is the first time I've seen one of the councillors at this meeting! Quite interesting as it goes - the issue of joyriders on Gold Hill Common has cropped up - they suspected that since the school put up a good fence on their field over the road to stop regular burnt out cars it has shifted the problem over to Gold Hill.  Apparently the police don't know who it is yet.  So we were pondering what to do to stop them driving on the Common for the least money and most asthetically pleasing with the environment.  Options were basically ditch and mound and posts - both are going to be used in tandem in the areas where they can get on to the common - posts are going to be tree stumps which I think will look quite good.

We also discussed a proposed project at Leachcroft and Grove Hill - but we didn't have any actual details on what they plan to do - which wasn't tremendously helpful, I mentioned about all the green sports playing areas in the village are under threat ie Newlands, NSE playing fields (and if Newlands goes our club house as without cricket its a dead duck) - think it'll be raised at the Parish meeting next week. I also mentioned the fly tipping down Shire Lane - simply because I almost collided with a fridge on it the other day (yes I was going a bit fast!).

We also decided to enter this years best kept village award again, litter is the biggest problem and needs the whole village to get involved - I haven't actually helped litter pick either of the years - last year I think I was getting the house ready for Rebecca.  We decided not to enter Britain in Bloom competition as it was more costly (best kept village is only £8).

And finally, the roundabout in the play area at Mill Meadow is scheduled for replacement as it is getting a bit wobbly apparently - safe to use at the moment but will need a new one.  A roundabout suitable for 2-4 year olds was just under £2k ex fitting which our haywardens will do.  We asked to see what we could get for £2.5k ie something that might be suitable for older children as well (Though not those youngsters who are apparently putting their motorbikes on the top then jumping off)

Ah yes, it snowed last night and we have thin layer over the ground!

Congratulations to Warren and Zoe

Welcome to the world Eve Scott - daughter of Warren and Zoe - everyone is delighted that Zoe and baby are doing well - even more delighted that we were invited down the White Hart last night to wet the baby's head!!  Good to bump in to Dan and Neal Collins as well.

The vacancy for the Parish Council post has only had one applicant so far - so anyone wishing to apply should do so asap.
