Hockey Training
Another excellent training session by Steve Jack this evening. Rather disappointing that there was only 4 of us from the usual first XI there - considering we've got a big cup game against Zak Hond this Sunday. I don't think we'll be 100% out for Bicester this weekend - everyone preserving themselves for Sunday - very exciting - though think the odds are in ZH's favour looking at results. Got a shiner as well in training when a ball popped up my stick when I jabbed - whoops.

CSE work
Been battling through the last of the Danfoss valves, thermostats and switches today and last friday. Plenty of pages now including ecommerce on their site. Also looking at the Tri Rated Cable page to see if it can be boosted back to number one.

Google is still all over the place, seems to be almost continuous updating at present. My barometer "Chalfont St Peter" term for the parish council web site is now up to 4/5 from 90 odd. This is a banker for top five so will be interesting to see if it stays there. Could be because I put a chalfont st peter link in from the number one web site for that search term! Many other search terms are way out though still for some of my other clients.

Weekend
A busy weekend as always and didn't complete nearly as much as I wanted to as usual. Had my Mate ash down for the weekend with girlfriend Debs and baby Lauren. He came down for an interview in Uxbridge on Friday afternoon and stayed until lunch today. He is a bit of a live wire and I didn't arrange enough for him. They do enjoy arguing and winding each other up though so that kepy them busy. Every time I see lauren she has developed more - just started to walk now. it also brings it home just how much my life is going to change in July when our baby arrives.

Played hockey for the second xi on saturday against Wokingham, good game and I ached on Sunday morning so must have been doing some running - though didn't set much up or contribute hugely. Encouraging to see some of the younger players making great leaps forward in their abilities - very encouraging for the future of the club.

Had a roast lamb in the Village Hall - very good it was too - not at all smokey which was good for the kids.

Let it snow, let it snow
It snowed again last night, third time this year - must be a record for the last 10 years. Had a great snowball fight on the way back from the pub with Simon (neighbour) - caught him a treat on the jaw. The Waggon and Horses is looking very spic and span now with the facelift inside and out it is currently receiving - good work.

Promoting wildlife in the garden
I've decided not to put a straightforward wooden fence at the back of our garden. Instead, I'm going to plant a varied hedge ie various different types of shrub to encourage wildlife to use it. Next door's garden is superb and I need to do a lot of work on ours to bring it up to scratch. Should be an interesting experiment.

A day of volunteering!!
I did a lot of my paid for work, but by the end of the day I seemed to have done a huge amount of volunteer work - not to be repeated today or Friday! I had completed several revisions of the Sports Club flyer, some draft text for the Village Appraisal newsletter, found out some names to contact for youth, uncovered a few more photos for blowing up for the sports club wall, liaised with Chalfont Community College about using our cricket pitch again this year and chatting with Chiltern District Council about possible grants to help our cricket section. All good and interesting stuff but doesn't pay the mortgage!!

Parish Broadband
Was reading Internet Magazine yesterday and it struck me that the Chalfont St Peter Parish Council is an old Windows 98 or ME machine. We've just ordered the basic Tiscali package to start with - which I'm sure will be sufficient and actually save money and provide a better service. However, I've got to secure the machine so wondering between zone alarm and something else I read in Internet magazine - I hate zone alarm so.... If it was a Win XP machine then the inbuilt security would have been fine.
