Bucks CC Sports shin dig

Went to High Wycombe FC's ground last night for a Bucks CC organised event to celebrate sports in the County.  It was a strange event and I'm not entirely sure why they put it on to be honest.  Maybe it was a photo opportunity for the Mayor and the new High Sheriff, maybe it was their conscience giving something back as they don't bother with sports generally - anyway...

I took Martin "GB Softball" Cartledge and Warren "hockey chairman" Scott and er me who plays 3's hockey for A & C!!  We sat down at a table and were joined by hockey God Simon Mason - who has just retired from International hockey - and what a really nice bloke he was too.  Also sat next to some Under 20 Fencers - now they really do struggle on their finances - was chatting to one of them who had just flown in from Germany I think three hours earlier, had beaten the World Champion but has to finance pretty much all his trips himself - and he is only 18!  He has to go on about 8 trips (two of them a week long) a year for various championships, each costs about £350 - or up to £1k for the week and he gets a grant of £750 a year to cover it.  Is it surprising we are not going to have world beaters in this country - he is probably going to give up after University - or that was the impression I got (I was drinking orange juice).

I did meet a good Education contact in Bucks CC though (through Martin who played hockey with him at Wycombe) and I need to contact him in May re the astro at Chalfont Community College.

Went to the Packhorse afterwards to finish Warren and Martin off after the free wine.

House

We aren't finding out until next week now - how absurd - how dificult is it to make that decision.

My shoulder is hurting again - looks like I damaged the tendons again last night at hockey training - I was just thinking it was the first time they'd felt fine in a long time.

Not a lot else happening - cannot tell you about the work I've been doing today.  Been selected for Sunday's game. Wonder if we get through whether I'll be selected for the final or whether the others will come back for it.

Still no news...

We were supposed to be finding out about the house yesterday, but still no news - very annoying as a lot of things seem to be hinging on this eg holiday, things we want to do to this place eg new greenhouse, new business cards etc oh well.

Went to hockey training last night, it was pouring with rain - it felt like I'd had flu for a couple of weeks.  Will have to see if I'm playing this Sunday in the cup game - I expect as its away I might well be - hope my fitness returns in the meantime.  No games on Saturday any more - going to Richard Lee's wedding on Saturday down in Deepcut / Surrey.

Did a lot of catch up work yesterday, wading through my inbox which has built up over the last couple of months.  Added a new villa to the la manga section of www.holidayvillas2rent.com - this site was one of the first I worked on even before I went out on my own, Turret Engineering also had an update - another one of my first web sites.  Finished another web site off, but cannot tell you about it yet - the garden club one is now live officially.

Easter Weekend

Well I'm almost better - two weeks after I first felt ill.  Had a good weekend to try and relax and sort my body out.  Friday evening stayed in and watched the bond movie - went to bed at 9.30 and watched it in bed!!

Saturday I mowed the lawn for the first time this year and the garden instantly looked better, also trimmed the hedge and edged the front garden bed (with my new half moon edger - brilliant it is!).  The front garden is looking tippety top.  Also had another person looking round the house Sat morning - but don't think it will be 3/3 viewings / offers!  We hear about the house today so that will decide a few things.

Saturday night we went to Shambles wedding over in Tring - well just outside - beautiful place Pendley Manor House.  Great to see some friends I haven't seen for a while - Duncan and Lambo and many others.

Sunday trotted down to Eastbourne to see the parents - had a relaxing couple of days there - had a walk over the Downs on Sat afternoon and in the blazing sunshine walked along the sea front on Sun morning - beautiful - I've got lots of photos and will hopefully post them in the near future.  Went to bed at 9.30 on Sun night.

Last night went to bed early again!  There's a pattern somewhere!!

Actually completed some work

With my inbox reaching epic scrolling proportions with work, it was about time my body decided I was able to do some work.  Thank-goodness and quite enjoyable it is too.  Still not feeling anywhere near 100% though.

This weekend I've cancelled my trip to Folkestone, Shambles wedding reception on Sat evening and a possible visit to my parents in Eastbourne.  Haven't seen them for a while.  No beer consumption though one suspects.  Probably have to mow the lawn and trim the front hedge.

Bit better

Well its now over a week since I've been feeling pants - did my first bit of work yesterday since last Tuesday - only a tiny bit though as I wasn't confident my head could cope and make stupid mistakes.

Thought I was feeling much better this morning, but feeling rather warm sitting here - but absolutely have to do some work today.

Went and had a look round the house we put a bid in on yesterday, hope we get it - but apparently 10 people so far have put bids in.  We hear on Tuesday next week. Otherwise we have decided we'll stay here.

Am i feeling better?

Well sort of - the temperature is now below 100 and almost back to normal - but it is now 6 days on and i've lost masses of work time.  Funnily enough I wasn't well enough to play for the 3's on saturday - temperature of 102, but dragged myself out of bed for the first time and watched the first half - we needed to win to guarantee avoiding relegation.  Unfortunately they lost 3-1 - Geoff was sent off again - bit predictable - eh Geoff!!  1's played afterwards and managed to miss promotion by loosing 3-0.  Men's 2's also lost!!  The U15 girls won yesterday in the full cup - ie the creme de la creme - now through to the semis - apparently more satisfying given that Canterbury had been telling us we'd be thrashed.

The rest of the weekend was spent drinking water during the day so I could expell it through every pore in the evening.  Every time I speak I need to cough as well - not ideal for the phone - and I haven't really eaten since Tues so feeling rather light headed.  Hope I don't make too many mistakes :s

Not going to Folkestone - be madness to go for two nights and the usual 40 pints... might even give up for a while to do myself a favour - drinking water down the pub....nice.

Oh yes, had two people look round our house now and had two cash offers - find out whether we get the house we put an offer in on on Tuesday after Easter - they've had 10 bids on it apparently.

Still ill

Just got up - feeling as bad as I have done the last three days. Back to bed in a minute - doesn't look like I'm playing hockey tomorrow.

On the bright side, Sarah has reported that she can see Rebecca's first tooth about to break through :-D
