Eastbourne beach, England out, Open Spaces council meeting

Went to Eastbourne for the weekend again - left first thing Saturday to miss most of the traffic and was there by just after 10am. As Rebecca loves her sandpit so much we took her to a giant sand pit - the beach. Low tide is best as Eastbourne is a stoney beach so we were able to play in the sand - she absolutely loved jumping in the sea and I loved being right by her side. It was unbelievably hot though so we were pleased to leave by 12.00 after an hour or so. James wasn't comfortable at all in his buggy. James is doing really well - he is putting on weight and smiling a lot - and still get us up twice in the night at least... Click the title for photos of the weekend and one here below.

We did watch some of the England game, but the family was having so much fun in the back garden we prefered to stay outside - and of course we lost on penalties against Portugal. Strangely I was extremely angry mostly at Sven who I think will be regarded by history as awful - we had our best ever opportunity to win it this time - especially with Brazil knocked out by France.

It was my sister's birthday yesterday - so happy birthday to her - 33 I think and to Martin as well. I popped along to an open spaces council meeting. I was five minutes late but good job I turned up as we were only just quorate with four of us there. The main agenda item was that Oliver came along to lobby on behalf of the Middle School to have an area of the allotment and open space put aside as a field for them. We sent him away asking for more details - including whether they want it enclosed, in which case it would be a definite no. At CSE I read an extremely interesting document on street lighting and how Philips has launched something new and significantly more environmentally friendly - so will investigate further and try and push it on to the radar of the parish council - one of the few powers the council has is street lighting. I'm still in two minds about whether to stand again next May or not, will see how the rest of this year pans out I think.

Been very busy with work recently - though Chris started full time on Monday morning. I think (hope) he has learnt a lot already and he has helped me on progressing a load of other work which will in turn leap us all forward a lot - about three new web sites ready to make their mark on the internet in the next couple of weeks or so.

Sarah is out playing hockey again tonight which is good news - my achilles is still knackered each morning so still no hockey for me. Probably quite a good thing given this heat.... Still haven't written to the NSE with my thoughts on their recent proposals - the deadline was last week.

Finally had our mortgage approved and I think we are now just waiting for the top of the chain to sort themselves out legally and we are go. Sarah has done most of the work to sort it out - she is a marvellous woman and mum.
