James William Watts - Born Yesterday

Jamie was born yesterday at 1.56pm weighing 7lbs 8oz - one more oz than Rebecca. The labour was almost identical to Rebecca's with Sarah having contractions for about 40 hours - which again meant she had no sleep for two nights prior to eventual delivery. Sarah didn't have drugs this time - only gas and air - the pain was terrible as it arrived - I have to admit my eyes were full of water for the final 20 mins as Sarah was in so much pain. Here is a photo of Sarah with James just after she'd showered about 2.45pm:

Many thanks to Sarah's Mum and Dad who stayed overnight (we went to Wexham at 3.15am only to return at 4.30 and then go back again at 9am for the final run in) and Sarah's sister for Rebecca sitting whilst I went to pick Sarah up to bring them home last night. Fortunately James was asleep from 11pm to 6am last night so Sarah had some good quality sleep. The midwifes think his stomach still had lots of mucas in it so he wasn't hungry - which started changing through the day today.

How we were going to introduce Rebecca to Jamie was interesting - we decided to both get her this morning and give her her milk in bed with us - and find him at the bottom of the bed. This photo is of Rebecca with James after a couple of minutes of finding him! She was brilliant and has responded well throughout the day with him:

Its been a relatively quiet day today - his first full day alive - he was given the ok this morning by the hospital (we had to go back as a paediatrician wasn't available last night). Grandma and Grandpa visited and Auntie Julie and cousins William and Olivia - they brought a baby for Rebecca to play with and she loved that.

I'm not sure when I'm going to visit my Mum and Dad as Dad is starting to get tired with his radiotherapy - fortunately he is about half way through it now - can't wait to see them again though.

Loads more to say, but I'm tired and want to go to bed! Two lots of photos uploaded - James being born before and after (not during!) and Rebecca seeing James on two pages.
