New Web Site

Launched a new web site yesterday for Constant Air Systems. It will be promoting their Plant room solutions and mechanical services.

Plenty of other things going on at the moment too. Of course the biggest is that we are now in the final countdown for the next baby. Four weeks now so no drinking until afterwards! Due the day before the end of season hockey dinner dance! Rebecca is being super cool at the moment, she came up to me the other night and pointed at my eyes nose and mouth and said each of the words - which took me by surprise - then did the same to Sarah the next morning. She did wake up at 5am this morning though - she was very happy when I dropped her off at nursery though. Hopefully I'm looking after her all tomorrow (well until hockey at 3.30 away in Eastcote) as Sarah should be looking for a new car with Charlie.

BBC NEWS | Business | HBOS set to open 100 new branches

This is an interesting article - especially as they have just effectively closed the one in Chalfont St Peter - maybe they intended to close that as it was a franchise and open their own branch instead.

More drugs

Finally picked up my prescription yesterday evening for some more drugs - only went without for a day or two - so far my knees have only barely flickered which is a vast improvement on the previous 8 months or so - maybe it was the holiday that benefited me!

On the way back from picking them up bumped in to Dan Webb - the new Chalfont St Peter cricket chairman - had a swift pint with him - and I am really impressed with what he is achieving already - hopefully the initial enthusiasm carries through to the long term - but given his track record I have no doubt it will and the cricket section will move strongly upwards in the next five years.

In fact, Warren the hockey chairman who has also done a great job in the last couple of years could do well to take a leaf from Dan's book and look more strategically at the long term future of the hockey club. Sarah went to a meeting last night organised by the EHA (England Hockey) which if they carry through for longer than the normal two years they cobble something together for will have profound effects on clubs. Just one of the points was no Under 15's (I think that was the age she said) will be allowed to play senior hockey - which she guessed would take away two ladies teams for example - and I should think at least one men's teams. Added to the fact Ian and sarah aren't particularly interested in doing juniors any more because of the lack of support they receive then the hockey chairman has a lot to sort out and delegate tasks to.

It'll be interested to see how the EHA organise their finances as their taxes on us playing are already at breaking point - so if they suddenly find 20% of teams are removed from the leagues (Which already shrinking rapidly through mergers and clubs folding) they will see their finances in tatters. However, I have every confidence they will take another strategic direction in two years time...

I went along for lunch with Quest Marketing yesterday at Pinewood Studios - what a fabulous environment they have to work in there. We spotted the Director of the new James Bond film Casino Royale in the restaurant we were eating in. Star spotting is a bit of a passe activity for them though!! lol.

I also found time to do a spot of work yesterday as well lol I'm about to launch a couple of web sites hopefully later today. All my other interests are very busy as always. I notice some of my competitors aren't so busy - looking at these stats and even those of my customers they are all over them. Maybe they'll be tempted to put in an offer for us - in excess of £100k please.

Dad's Treatment

It starts in four weeks and is a mixture of radiotherapy and chemotherapy for five weeks - think the radio was for five weeks every day with chemo joining in about the fourth week. A stent is also being put in to make it easier for him to swallow - especially when it gets sore during the therapy.

I'm trying to get another prescription for my drugs - and lost my blood test forms as well in the big house tidy up - could be a bit of a problem with that though as might have to come straight from my consultant rather than GP. whoops....

Weekend hockey, life members dinner

A busy weekend as normal. Friday evening went out with Chris, Charlie Annalisa and Scott which was good - got home at about 2am. Played hockey at 10.30 against High Wycombe 2nd XI, we lost to them in the first half of the season but beat them 7-1 this time - I slotted number 2 and 3 which was good. Then came back and tidied the house as we had another viewing - seemed to be positive but we shall see I guess. Then down the club for a bit of socialising and to see the usual suspects. It really is good down there for the youngsters - i'm looking forward to the banning of smoking in the club house though as it was quite smokey as no windows were open as it was quite cold. It was the life members dinner in the evening which was good as always.

Yesterday we had a delicious meal at Sarah's mum and Dads, the whole family was there so was a very good day indeed. We went to hospital this morning to have Sarah scanned and then have her Anti D injection and blood test. The baby is in the right place which is good news. Just now at home waiting for news of Dad who finally had his appointment at 11am in Brighton this morning.
