Dad Ok?

Well yesterday they were told Dad has Cancer of Esophagus - so in most definitions that isn't ok - so why Mum was told the day before he was fine is at the moment unclear. Anyway, he's having a CT scan today or Monday.

At the moment I'm playing hockey away in Staines tomorrow and quiz night in the evening at the sports club - but if Dad isn't in hospital I think a trip down there will be in order. In any case, he said last night that we've got to go to Brighton on Thursday to do probate for Bob. We also have two people looking round our house on Saturday so things are looking positive on that front at the moment.

Just 8 weeks to go until Rebecca's brother or sister is born - its currently breached but is swimming around so will hopefully move in to position before then.

Our colds have turned in to stinkers as well - so Sarah and I are both feeling a bit under the weather.

Still, the good news is Rebecca was super cool as normal this morning (well she has the cold as well but a drop of Calpol sorted that out). We had fun blowing rasberries at each other on the sofa for half an hour before taking her to Nursery this morning a bit later than normal!

Drugs, houses, work, Dad and of course Rebecca

Dad is thankfully ok - he only has a stricture of the throat (well I say only but it could have been a lot worse). The family was worried about him - he had his barium meal x-ray yesterday and now they just need to sort it out - think he is more worried about cancelling another holiday - just cancelled a cruise - Borneo trip in a few weeks was also in doubt!

No side affects from the drugs as yet and i've been taking them for six days now - though I have got a sore throat and a cold - everyone in CSE seems to have gone down with that one. Been working really hard this week so my immune system is probably a bit down anyway - the only trouble with finishing work at 11pm is that I cannot switch off when I go to bed and so lay there for ages. Rebecca is waking up earlier as well now - think at last she is getting over the latest lot of teeth - poor thing has been quite upset by it all - just four more to go we think. Then of course we have the next baby in 8 weeks and do it all over again lol. Rebecca and I had great fun in the empty lounge last night running around and tickling (she wasn't tickling me of course) - we were in hysterics.

Watched the football in bed last night to try and unwind - cracking evening of football - some unexpected results and great to watch. To this day I've still no idea why Newcastle poached Sounness from Blackburn - they were bottom when they took him - now he's er working his magic at Newcastle with a far superior squad - they seem to have sold most of their best players - in hindsight (or not even that) Blackburn fans are probably delighted he was taken!! Speaking of selling players, Tottenham seem to be having a bit of a clear out - whilst watching Portsmouth last night young Wayne Routledge popped up - good career move then going to Tottenham, hasn't played and will probably be relegated with Portsmouth d'oh. Crystal Palace seem to have hit the brakes a bit recently - I haven't been that impressed with their performance (when I watched them at Southampton) and other highlights. If we don't go up I hope Andrew Johnston can prise himself away - or at least go on loan to the Premiership until we get there for the sake of his career - he hasn't hit top form yet after being injured - missed a few opportunities.

Anyone want to buy a 3 bed semi - a sign has appeared outside our house - now will we stay in CSP or move out of it I wonder. Anyway, email me if you've £389k to spare and are looking to move to CSP!!

Market Traders Assoc, Holy Cross and More

Went to the council meeting last night - Dad stayed in hospital overnight but everything is ok apparently and no need for me to pop down and cheer him up. Bit of a worry though him not being able to eat!

Anyway, the council meeting, the two most interesting debates were whether the Parish Council should recognise the Market Traders Association - Olivers break away organisation (from the Chamber of Commerce) which represents the independent traders up the high street. Not sure why they wish to be officially recognised by the Parish Council as we only give £500 for flowers and christmas lights throughout the year - someone whispered in my ear it is so they can reclaim VAT but don't know if that is true or not. Much debate ensued and it was referred to Policy and Finance and after further information is requested from them and Chamber of Commerce. I gave Bryan Sheppee my membership fee for the latter organisation in the summer of last year and still haven't had a receipt for it - I'd better be in the upcoming village guide otherwise i will be very annoyed.

The other comment of note was on Holy Cross, apparently the gang of nuns in Switzerland have withdrawn funding for it and support - or something along those lines - we will hear what is happening to the school in the next 6 weeks apparently. My bet is some luxury flats in the grange buildings!! The swiss nuns are then planning to use 'freed' up funds on missionaries in Africa - seems much more sensible to me.

The other main discussion point was the new council building.

Not a lot else to report - no side effects from my new drugs as yet - fingers crossed. I managed to print on a CD last night and it looks fantastic - had to download some new software from the Canon site as the standard canon drivers are about 20mm out - which wasn't particularly helpful...

Council meeting

The weekend flew by as usual. Friday night was very enjoyable in the White Hart with a few friends then busy with Rebecca and Sarah Sat morning and playing hockey against british airways in the afternoon - the latter is never an enjoyable experience unfortunately.

In the evening we sat down and watched a DVD and chilled out. Sunday morning Martin and I went to feed the ducks in Chalfont St Giles with Rebecca and Connor - unfortunately no ducks - only a few fat chavs trying to fall through the ice. Rebecca i think was cold as she didn't even enjoy the swings. So back to Martin's for coffee joined by Sarah.

I've a council meeting tonight - thought i was going to have to go to Eastbourne as Dad is in hospital unable to swallow - bit worrying :s - but I've been assured he is ok.
