Under the weather

The Watts' have been under the weather this week. Sarah has had a sore throat, Rebecca has been hit badly by teething and I've had my normal immune system problems feeling very tired and sore throat - James has mostly been ok from what we can tell - his teething seems to be ok this week - so don't have to change his nappy immediately - though still quickly of course. He is still waking up at 5.00am - Sunday morning was hard as it was 4.30am new time... This morning we let him scream for about 50 mins and he finally went to sleep - Rebecca sort of woke up during that too. She is so tired and affected by her teeth that she was asleep for 2 1/2 hours yesterday lunch time - she recently decided she wasn't sleeping any more at lunch time. James is now really close to crawling, he is a real giggler nowadays.

So I've been working at home this week - didn't realise what a backlog of filing and sorting and other stuff I had to do - I still haven't properly unpacked from the house move in July. I launched an updated web site this week - www.access-infra.com - I had to update an existing web site - change the dynamic toolbar (which I never do for search engine reasons). I also updated www.miltonscottage.org with a new section for the Friends of Miltons Cottage, the garden club show photos and newsletters, some additional photos on Chalfontstpeter.com and a few other bits and bobs.

I also went to the monthly Parish Council meeting on Monday evening. It went on until 11pm which is quite long for that - but car parking and salaries were being discussed. The vote on car parking was not to renew the free parking for an hour(well we are going to ask Chiltern to halve their demand to us of £27k + VAT as this is totally unrealistic). It was a narrow vote - but makes a change when Alan and I were outvoted 13-2 last year. The things we could do instead of paying Chiltern DC include buying decent play equipment regularly which will last 30 years or so, subsidise public transport in the village etc etc. I think the discussion is relatively academic anyway as the budget seems to have risen loads again this year - so that is the obvious cut to make. It'll be interesting to see what the figure is next year when people have to pay and Chiltern present it back to us. Though of course it will be a new set of councillors next year due to the May elections. I'm still undecided whether to stand or not - I do enjoy it but just don't have the time to do it to my best abilities - as i could when I first joined. Another councillor did say though that I do a lot more than some others!!

Had the family up at the weekend from Eastbourne, Sarah and I feel like we are in the eye of the storm - we are completely and normal and calm yet everyone else seems to be having dramatic things happening - i'm not going to go in to detail about what is happening on both sides of the family though... We still played hockey this weekend - and the 2's lost again - bit worrying - a different strike formation again - five different in five games.... I was right half this time - quite enjoyed it and am fit enough for a whole game now which is quite good after so long out.
