Seminars, web work, hockey playing....
Been tip top busy as normal. Had a very enjoyable weekend - out on Friday playing snooker - and I won. The secret to winning is having the opposite turn up with a few beers inside them already and I'm practically guaranteed a win - and that happens more often than not these days. Played hockey in Oxford on saturday where we got back to winning ways - though I left the house at 10am and rushed back with no teas or socialising and got back at 3 so missed out on a whole five hours of not playing with Rebecca or James. A very pleasant evening with Al and linda round and a lentil shepherds pie!
Made up for it on Sunday though and had a great time with them - Sarah was out watching the rugby at Twickenham - a new south stand apparently and watching England getting beaten. We popped round to Auntie Catherine's house on Sun afternoon and met up with her and Warren / Zoe / Eve / Emma (and dog's) Auntie Annie and Wardy for a pleasant stroll round Burnham Beeches. rebecca was in her element and loved it - James was pretty pleased too sitting in his buggy grinning away - well he did get a bit hungry towards the end and found he was sitting in a pooy nappy which made him a bit gris!
Went to a seminar last night at Chiltern District Council about how to get funding for play areas and play equipment - went with Alan Moffat and with high expectations - not sure why - and came back suitably deflated. £200k to be given out across the district over three years.... Given a new bit of play equipment is between £10k - £60k (for a helter skelter) that isn't going to go tremendously far is it! As usual we anticipate chesham will receive the majority of that too. Saying that - Chalfont Common is for some odd reason a priority reason - in the literature I briefly read I think that is because of the NSE developments - which as I say is odd - they are either out of date or they know something we don't know!! Anyway, we mused over a pint in the Village Hall about the cost of the organisation of the seminar, the masses of colour lasered documents, the four / five personnel taken to run the event and the man hours it had cost to organise and research the whole document - and then I was wondering why I was cynical about government spending...
Work has been very busy as well this week - working on some interesting projects though...
