Sarah's Pregnant and Foot Updates!

Sarah played her last hockey game of the season today - she had a successful 13 week scan on Thursday and we'll be expecting Rebecca's sister / brother on March 31st 2006.

I was unable to play hockey today due to my foot and knee. The foot is a lot better ie I can now stand on it unlike yesterday but my knee is slightly worse.

Looked after Rebecca today - she really is super cool - though I wasn't very mobile we had a good play and she was very happy. She also has at least three new teeth coming through on the bottom row - probably explains why she has been waking up at 3am a bit grizzly...

Crystal Palace could only manage a draw against 9 man Preston today. It makes you wonder if they really were unlucky last year - Wigan and West Ham are both doing really well in the Premiership this year.

My Godfather Bob is apparently now struggling to take on fluids due to his Parkinson's - he has had a lot of problems but this seems more serious than some of them.

Anyway, here is a photo of Rebecca investigating the washing machine recently and a foot comparison - see if you can spot the difference....

Poxy Arthritus

Well the ankle / foot has gone again - the same evening the knee went - so looks like after 12 years, my Psoriatic Arthritus is spreading from my knees which is a rather disheartening. Looks like I may have to take the drugs option after all - I'm also considering all my voluntary positions as well - though I'm loathe to give them up as I enjoy them so much - parish councillor I said I would do for four years - and that is what I'm keen to do - on the flip side my health is more important and at least 3 other councillors have already resigned in this term for much lesser reasons.

Anyway, so will I be able to play hockey this weekend - the 1's are short so looks like i'm back in with them again - I think I must be the 15th member of the squad! Reminds me of four years ago when I was changing every week which was incredibly frustrating. Then again - am I going to be able to play every week - nothing worse for captains if someone in the team doesn't know whether they are able to play until the morning of the game - as with my current medical situation!!

Black peppers?

The garden is now coming to an end - its not been too bad a year considering the start - but one of my pepper plants is producing black peppers rather than green ones!! The runner beans have just about stopped now as well which is a pity.

Went up to trade show yesterday to source more plastic glasses for cater for you. Went up with Catherine for Therapies Direct and had a few interesting meetings with her - Outdoor Direct could be a real flyer next year.

Went to training last night - playing 2's this Saturday. Foot / achilles was very painful this morning - think I might give training a rest for a few weeks and just play - still, if I'm not in the 1's I don't have to try particularly hard - the second xi isn't exactly challenging - it was easy in the few games i played last year (scored 4 in one of them) and they were relegated so it'll be even easier this year.

Ok Scott, about Crystal Palace - they won 1-0 against Coventry last night in the league cup with their reserve side. I've got a theory about new relegated sides (of which Palace apparently is the most relegated from the Premiership) 1. when they go down the existing players think it will be really easy 2. they are also only used to targeting a few wins to stay up - rather than put in a season of winning to become promoted - a quite different mind set - hence why Palace are losing.

Tiring weekend

Sarah came back on Sunday morning after her hard work out in Poland - regular presentations to 120 people - starting at 7am - hats off to her. I thoroughly enjoyed looking after Rebecca in that time - thanks to Sarah's sister Julie who looked after her whilst I was out playing hockey on Saturday.

Speaking of hockey we drew 4-4 with Marlow who seem to have got a lot better in the last couple of years. I won man of the match which was great - so will be interesting to see which team i'm in next week with a few regulars coming back... It was the mixed tournament on Sunday at the club - seemed to be very successful which is good news.

My sister Sarah and Richard popped in with Oliver - just 8 days old - he was so tiny - its easy to forget just how small they are - so light to hold. Sarah looked very well :-) I fell asleep Sunday afternoon and bed early Sun night - absolutely knackered again...

Busy week this week - so i'd best get on with it!!

Here's a picture of Rebecca at our busy open day the other day:
