One minute of silence

Geoff Bullock was remembered with one minute of silence between hockey games today and at the start of the 1st xi cricket game. He did so much for the club over a period of around 7 years rebuilding the club and being 2nd xi captain and prior to that a Junior manager. He also played hockey for Ireland. The funeral is next Wednesday.

Anyway, had the hockey open day - played a mickey mouse game in the baking hot sun - quite a good turnout - a few new faces.

Didn't do much else today - watched a derisory effort by the England players - pulling on an England shirt doesn't seem to invoke much passion - contrast this with the Scotland players who were chasing everything down - I think Sven is nearing or should be nearing the end of his reign. The players just don't appear to be motivated under him. Mowed the lawn in the evening - which was probably more interesting that the England game. Also had garlic and chilli sausages from the butcher in chalfont st peter - absolutely delicious (with fresh runner beans of course!!).

Not sure where last week disappeared to - all went flying by. Managed to complete plenty of work but as usual still have plenty to do.

A sad day

Spent most of the day working on British Battles yesterday - putting up plenty of illustrations in many parts of the site and adding two new battles to a new war - the first boer war.

However, I found it rather dificult to concentrate after lunch after being told of a sad loss which will affect mostly members of the ex Chalfont St Peter Hockey Club - I don't think I can say who it is yet until at least tomorrow. I felt rather numb all afternoon.

Saw my old friend Rachael yesterday evening to discuss a web site she is planning - she seemed in fine form as usual - haven't seen her for three years since Sarah and I got married. Think she has got a good angle for an area which doesn't seem to be competitive yet.

Had yet more computer problems yesterday - I've been plagued with them. Since finding my RAM was up the creek I purchased some more from the local shop - only double the price of ebuyer - oh well - Dell haven't given me a delivery time yet - I need it by next Monday absolute latest for when I start at Bourne End. Also, as I removed the RAM from my machine Windows thought it was a new machine and therefore decided it was going to stop working in three days as I therefore didn't have a valid licence - I subscribe to the Microsoft Action Pack and therefore have 10 licences!! Anyway, you can imagine how long I spent on the phone to Microsoft negotiating telephone systems trying to get it sorted (actually that's a little unfair - they were pretty good and took less than half an hour - less time than trying to buy a new phone from O2).

Transfer deadline day happened yesterday, feel sorry for Michael Owen - backed in to a corner somewhat - plenty of activity though. Jenas obviously hated souness and couldn't wait to get out - not a good manager looking in from the outside.

Very busy the next two days - at least i have a fully functioning computer now.

Weekend updates

Saturday we played with Rebecca and had good fun - but felt very tired so didn't really do much!! Went to the pub and was a bit caught out by the later opening times of 12pm - went down at 9 knackered but fancying seeing a few people in the White Hart and ended up staying 3 hours and drinking more than I needed!

Sunday we went down to Eastbourne and had a great afternoon in the garden. My sister sarah who is almost 9 months pregnant was there with Harry and her husband Richard. We played in the huge garden which was nice. Bank holiday monday morning we went to Eastbourne and walked along the beach front then popped quickly to the shops for cakes and coffee and a spot of shopping.

In the afternoon we went to East Dean village flower show - Dad cleaned up on a number of vegetable exhibits!! He is entering Polegate show next week so will be interesting to see how he does - he had a temperature so wasn't in great spirits. Sarah and I had a lovely meal in the evening at the Golden Galleon in the Cuckmere Valley. Mum and Dad did rebecca as well both mornings - we had a wonderful 11 hours sleep both nights we were down there - we really really needed it too.

Came back to work with a bump. In box was overflowing with orders from the weekend for Cater For You, Dell have screwed up my new PC which I need by next Monday at the absolute latest, I'm never buying from them again - I felt really awful that I couldn't understand a word from their Delhi call centre - and they had screwed up the order etc - really frustrating. Then my PC did the old Rebooting trick of a couple of weeks ago - discovered it was the memory - so only got 256mb in this one now and is running like an absolute dog.
Picked loads of vegetables this afternoon - hopefully sarah will distribute most of them at her hockey match this evening.

Below are photos from my new phone from the weeknd - as forgot the digital camera - surprisingly good!!
