Hockey Sticks Arrived

My two new hockey sticks arrived this morning - only ordered them yesterday - the TK1 has got a massive bow in it though - must have missed that on the description - I hate those sticks - oh well see how I get on with it.

Busy day with work yesterday - put some more images and up at the Powerbox web site, a new LSF SWA Cable at the CSE Distributors web site and a few other amendments including their team page and lots of other odds and sods.

Just phoned the parish offices to check a bit of village news and see if I can post it up - its good news! But the phone line went through to fax. I'll post it on the parish council web site later!

PC Corruptions & Definite walking

Realised first thing yesterday something seems to be up with my machine. I first had a problem a couple of weeks ago, opened addpro actinic and it had corrupted - had to create a new site from a backup as it wouldn't let me delete / overwrite the corrupted file. Had the same yesterday morning with another Actinic customer - then opened a normal web site and some graphics had corrupted. So spent all morning backing up my machine and discovered a few more had corrupted. Not sure what to do as I don't think there is space for a new hard drive in the machine - so might have to be a whole new machine. But don't want the old one hanging around - only just got rid of my last one - the data on it is the problem as I need it for years sometimes.

The discussion on the cricket forum was taken to a meeting last night - so intrigued as to what was said last night - if we'll ever find out.

Rebecca is definitely walking now - she took at five or six steps towards me last night not the usual one foot then slamming down on to the ground! I suspect it'll be a bit like when she started crawling - two crawls then start crying as she's forgotten what to do next and is frustrated - now she is scampering around on hands and knees. Nursery certainly seems to wear her out though - she was exhausted when I picked her up last night. She seems to be getting used to it as well which is good and enjoying it too. She really is wonderful!!

Had some chinese marinade sausages from Judds butchers in the village last night. Wasn't a very strong taste but delicious all the same - also had our first caugettes of the year from the garden - only about 5cms long, chopped them up and fried with spinach, onion and a single clove of garlic - very tasty.

Hockey, web sites and cucumbers

Played against Eastcote last night, they put out some of their younger players and we were beaten about 8-0. However, at least 5 of their goals were drag flicks and one flick, and I thought we could take a lot of positives out of it - and we played better than against Windsor. Broke my beloved GX7000 stick though - so playing with my battered Dita Gold which has half the wood missing as it is. There is a 1's vs 2's next Tues - I fully expect the 2's to loose as the 1's have been a much more cohesive unit but it will be good practice.

The greenhouse is coming along a kipper, first cucumber is almost ready to pick - that will be taken straight round to captain cook close! Also have some flowers on a couple of the runner bean plants and a couple of caugettes are close to being picked. No sign of any other veg though.

Did a load of work yesterday and the phone was incessant as well so very busy. Had time for a hair cut in the village though - now up to £11.50 a cut in the barber shop. Went to Judd's for some meat - really is good in there.

Strange days

When Mum and Dad moved down to Eastbourne they took a long time resident of Chalfont St Peter to look after her - Betty Walpole. She used to tell some great stories about Chalfont St Peter, what is was like during the war having lived in Glebe Road all her life. She died aged 89 today in Eastbourne. My Godfather Bob Hudson who is also with them in Eastbourne (well in a home) is also very ill apparently.

On a brighter note, waded through loads of work today - few new photos on www.powerbox.org.uk, finished my June invoicing at long last, a load of updates to British Battles including the Battle of Trafalgar. Still loads to do for the rest of the week - though would like to go to the NSE enquiry again - I think SENSE are giving evidence this week.

Interesting discussion just been started over at the Sports Club Forum - wonder if everything will be flushed out on it or whether it'll gently peter out - hopefully whatever is said will maintain decorum.

Rebecca was at home today - she really is super cool first birthday in 9 days - sarah said she is moments away from walking properly - she realises what is going on now! Sarah took her for a walk round black park today then to Grandmas.

Playing hockey tomorrow evening for the second xi / badgers - only have 3 or 4 youngsters though - dificult to get them to commit to anything - only one of them is really keen! Playing Eastcote - no idea what sort of team they are going to turn up with. I have a couple more fixtures to get as well as I have a couple of pitches - but struggling to find anyone to play us.

Currently listening to New Order, Retro disk 3 - Club mixes - rather good too. Also been listening to Cream Gold disk one today - taken a while but growing and Audioslave out of exile.

The coming week

Had a fairly good weekend - was good to see Chris and Scott on Friday night - we popped in to the Greyhound - they've removed the restaurant and it is now a really nice bar and seating area - might have to go in there more often. Didn't really do much else all weekend - Rebecca was absolutely brilliant she was really happy all weekend - still not quite walking yet but scampering everywhere on her hands and knees.

We have a 2nd xi game tomorrow night against Eastcote Hockey Club, no idea how strong the team they are going to put out will be. We play them at their place in a couple of weeks. Marlow couldn't raise a team for Aug 9th so still trying to find an opposition for then.

Plenty of work to keep me busy all week.
