BBC NEWS | England | Beds/Bucks/Herts | Tunnel collapse causes rail chaos

Remarkable - GX Tesco tunnel has collapsed. How on earth did that happen - we've got a whole underground network that hasn't collapsed. Wonder if this will put the project in jepordy - residents would be delighted.

Been very busy the last couple of days - not a huge amount to report though. All my seedlings have died in the greenhouse - the lettuces were doing really well - think i must have overwatered them. Also, as it is a plastic greenhouse and its in a different place - I think the timing of the watering will have to be midday just before the sun gets on to it.

NSE Public Enquiry opens and hockey

The NSE public enquiry opened yesterday morning at 10am in the Council Offices. Its probably going to last about 8 days, including one evening session next Thursday from 6-8pm. It was quite interesting watching it the proceedures then the start of expert witness. Its a shame I have a full time job as I'd have liked to have stayed a bit longer and watched more. Even the medical evidence which has no relevance was interesting - the cross examination which I thought would not throw anything up was interesting as it was trying to establish where the figure of 152 beds came from - indeed it could be the UK's requirement and indeed the south of england's requirement is a lot higher - my conclusion was that this might not be the last enabling development if they have to fund further beds. Left at 1pm and came and did some work!

Played hockey last night against Windsor Second XI - I played for Windsor as they were a player short. We played through torrential rain, thunder and lightening - I was quite worried at some points as the lightening was rather too close for comfort. The whole of Rickmansworth Lane back from the Dumb Bell was flooded on the way home - Charlie apparently flooded his distribution cap and his car cut out on the way back to Amersham!!

Staying at home all day today for much work and possibly a visit from Therapies Direct.

Sarah's Back to Work :-(

Sarah has gone back to work after a year off. I'm very sad because the house is going to be so quiet now with Rebecca at Nursery and Sarah back at work. Wish I earnt just a little bit more than we could get by with her not having to work. Dropped Rebecca off at nursery, she realised where we were and what was going to happen and she really clung on to me. Fortunately the tears had almost stopped by the time I'd got out of the gate.

Off to the NSE appeal in a minute - better leave soon as I don't think there will be any car parking space in the area! I have loads to do today so hoping I only have to stay for a couple of hours and then go - though I'm expected to turn up on a number of days throughout the hearing. I'm not going to put my name down to speak though.

Had a good weekend - though i'm still unbelievably fighting a bit of a cold and a sore throat. Played hockey last night for the 1's - was great to have a good hard run around - nicked the ball quite a few times and my basics have obviously improved since playing at centre half ie stopping the ball on the stick and then distributing. We have a 2nd xi / badgers game this evening against Windsor. Same time as the Tithe Barn / Chalfont St Peter youth club AGM.

The greenhouse is doing well - the tomatoes and cucumbers Sarah's mum bought for me are doing very well. All my seedlings seem to have not come up or have died - I think through overwatering... whoops. Runner beans are also shooting up.

The cricket club have just send round an email saying they are going to re-do the nets area - that is great news - hope they don't bodge it up though by trying to do it themselves. I quite fancy chucking my arm over in the nets - though not for 8 hours on a pitch...
