BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Tottenham Hotspur | Tottenham agree deal on Routledge

At last he's gone to Spurs - been on the cards for a year. Wonder when AJ will be leaving - seeing as we've bought another couple of strikers already!

Softball pitch update

Well as predicted - some hoops from Chiltern District Council. My opinion of CDC was already very low (see very early web log entry regarding planning decision against CPSA yet the following session for Gerrards Cross Golf Club), a grant situation where you have to sit with the person to ensure you get the grant and fill the bloody form in correctly and then listening to other hockey teams saying how much money their council is putting in to facilities - eg Banbury. Couldn't get to sleep last night as I was so furious.

Dear Andy

Thank you for your enquiry exploring the possibility of the Soft Ball Club using Mill Meadow on Sunday afternoons during the period April – August/September each year.

Whilst this sounds a very interesting venture I will need to establish if any other groups who use Mill Meadow eg Cst P football Club Juniors etc do so on a Sunday afternoon, possibly prepare a report for our Executive (next meeting end of July) and if we do give permission, sort out the terms of this permission, among other things. If we do give permission one of the requirements you should be aware of is that the Council would require the Club to hold public liability insurance of at least £5 million.

I would be grateful if you could supply me with a few more details about soft ball, what the game entails, how many people participate, likely to watch, approx area it covers etc this will assist in the Councils deliberations.

Sorry that I can’t therefore give an immediate answer but I am sure that you will appreciate we have a process to go through. I will come back to you shortly to keep you informed of progress.

All the best

David Stowe
Assistant Estates Officer

Anyway, there is the CPSA agm tonight and I was wondering what I'd actually achieved in two years on the board - we haven't got an astro pitch in three years of trying - we are too white and middle class for lottery money (so i was told on the phone!), no support elsewhere, and my marketing role seems to have generated a few web site wedding enquiries - but anyone could have done that.

Maybe I should stick to the day job and hopefully someone else will come forward tonight to do my current role of marketing / community and astro.

Softball training pitch

At open spaces the parish council approved the use of Mill Meadow for the use of the Softball club to train on the ground every Sunday afternoon - now looks as though I'll have to go through the bureaucratic nightmare of Chiltern District Council for approval as well. Wonder what hoops they'll make me / us go through.

Popped in to the parish council offices yesterday. Fixed a printer queue problem and did a windows and office update - strange as I went to Microsoft.com and did a windows update on my machine and there were some there - yet I have auto updates on - so if you are reading this - go to their web site and on the left hand side click on windows updates and check for an update. Office update is only worth doing if you have Outlook 2003 as it keeps the junk email filter up to date.

Busy day today, in Wycombe seeing a couple of clients then the accountant at lunch time then sarah's car is being looked at - to solve the immobiliser problem - well have a look at it anyway - probably need a new one fitting or something daft.

A big thank-you to Sarah's mum and dad yesterday, they gave me a whole load of tomato and cucumber plants - planted them in the now very busy greenhouse. Reminds me, must buy a bolt to nail it in to the concrete so it doesn't move in high winds!!

2/3's Hockey / Development team

Played hockey against Aylesbury last night, we had 13 players, of which only five of us were more established players - the rest were mostly 18 or under. Some positives to take out of the game and also a lot of work to be done. The thing I liked about the 3's last year was that the players listened - some are starting to get ahead of themselves and I didn't feel my team talk was particularly absorbed - the older players were just chatting amongst themselves rather than listening which didn't help. Still we won 2-0!!

Launched a new web site earlier this week - but cannot tell you about it - very interesting though! Enjoyed skimming some of the documents I posted up.

Rebecca's Nursery Induction!

Rebecca is spending two hours a day in nursery this week to get her aclimatised. She cried for 15 minutes yesterday apparently when sarah dropped her off - not too bad!

Had an open spaces meeting last night - a new line up since the shake up of the other week. Everyone was there as well which was good - the self acclaimed 'best man for the job' didn't say a word at the meeting until right at the end - he has got to go a long way to prove what he said at the parish meeting with such arrogance.

Anyway, no report yet from Chiltern DC on the facilities provision in the area - I'm sure the survey was undertaken about a year ago - and a whitewash letter from Mimi Harker with regards Sports provision in response to a letter we sent. I'm seriously concerned at the sports areas under threat in the area.

Alan Moffat (Chairman) is going to have a look at the St Peter's Garden - next to the Techspan building (is that right or am I getting the name mixed up) - anyway they are looking at how to 'renovate' the area and make it more appealing to people we want to be in there and less appealing to undesirables! Next meeting will be in the Autumn and he'll present his thoughts. He does so much for the village its incredible.

I also put in a request to use the Mill Meadow area (old Chalfont Saints cricket pitch) as a regular Softball practice area - I'm delighted to say that this was greeted with enthusiasm and after some liaison with other parties (football and the school) we'll be able to advertise a regular training slot for softball down there on Sunday afternoons - another positive step for this burgeoning playing section at CPSA.

Sarah's car is still sick - looks like the immobiliser is making it immovable. Did you know that you can still bump start a car with an immobiliser - I was rather surprised at that!!
