Chalfont St Peter Parish Council 'AGM'

As the title would suggest the annual general open meeting of the parish council was held this evening - or as it is alternatively known - the fit as many people in a small community centre room as possible and see how many faint (none this year thankfully but it was warm).

Keynote speeches from Open Spaces (mentioning how good the work undertaken by the wardens is), the youth shelter and the positive feedback received, the verges and more by Alan Moffat who I know puts in a tremendous amount of work for the council. Policy and Finance from Isobelle who also puts in a large amount of work on this and planning - of note was the new building we've purchased from a public loan fund. Planning from Dennis (soon to be chairman) who touched upon victories for the council and local residents and the ongoing NSE development issues and Jeremy Banham(current chairman) with more about the NSE. Linda Smith also gave an overview of the Village Appraisal Process and was glowing about the youth action work.

The public then had their chance to say something - of note were the residents complaining about speending on Joiners Lane and Lower Road, and the car parking issues - Lower Road and on double yellows. Apparently Chiltern District Council are taking over the enforecement of yellow lines from the police in September - they will have 6 enforcement officers working the district in shifts over 7am to 6pm to enforce it - eg out of the vale when people think they can sneak on the end of the parking line in the high street, outside the kebab van and mr crusty.

Then we had a chat from a manager at the Colne Valley Trust which was very interesting. Next week's council meeting should be interesting - well as interesting as it gets with the bi annual shift in personnel - apparently I'm going to be vice chairman for open spaces so I automatically have a place on amenities and finance.

Busy day at work today. Over at CSE Distributors this morning - their first catalogue is now nearing completion - so that is rather exciting. Also saw the accountant this afternoon with the end of year accounts for one of my companies and he invited me to play football on Wednesday evenings - which I'd rather like to do. Also uploaded some more information to the county collection web site and produced a proposed new web site as well for them.

Did i tell you the greenhouse has arrived, so hoping to finish early tomorrow and start digging out the foundations and get the concrete to fill it so I can start putting it up over the weekend. I have a solitary cucumber plant so far.
